You may have noticed that I haven’t been giving this blog the love and attention it needs. I keep telling myself it’s because I am uber busy, which is true. But I have lost a bit of love for my blog, the honeymoon is over. So I am going to attempt to put the spice back into our relationship. In an attempt to make things more interesting, I plan to (hopefully) write short posts more frequently, therefore they can be more fun and entertaining to read, and less pressure on me to write them. I also intend more visual stimulation and a big old re-design, because I’m a designer and my blog looks wack. That is all, no questions today… you can relax.
Most accents have certain connotations we take from them. For example, if someone talks like the queen, then we instantly think they must be posh and rich. It obviously works the other way if you sound like me.
So today, I want to know about your favourite accents. It could be the accent you find most sexy, or the one you just really like the sound of. Let me know with a quick comment. Oh and maybe we could have an accent bashing session, with the worst accent. The one that really grinds on you, when you hear it you just think oh no this person is going to be a moron.
I really don’t have time to write a big post today, on what I think might be an interesting subject, so I’m counting on you guys for some good comments.
I want to know what people think about The public vs comprehensive school debate. I heard a fact the other day, but I have kind of forgotten it, so I’m making it up. It was something like 80% of the most powerful people in this country were educated privately. This is pretty shocking really. Having rich people from rich backgrounds in power can’t be favorable for the working classes, surely. What is it that makes people from this schooling become so powerful?
There were people from my comprehensive school who were stupendously intelligent, why do they never seem to get the same breaks in life?
Is a private school eduction better than a comprehensive school one?
Just to expand on yesterday’s post about buying a gift for someone you’ve never met, I really think I was on to something.
I found this website called wants for sale via the Urban Outfitters blog. This guy and his wife paint pictures (which I reckon I could do) of things they want, then they sell the canvas for the exact amount that the item they painted/want is worth. So for example they have painted an iPhone and they are trying to sell that canvas for $649.17.
By the looks of things this has been a very successful venture for them with lots of the canvases being sold. I wonder if they’ll have any interest in the financial security one.
Anyway, would that change your opinion on yesterday’s post. If I was to paint said shiny new iMac on a fairly large canvas… would you buy it for £799?
p.s. I did intend to write a new question today, but it was photo related and I am having camera problems. Check back on Monday… or Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday. That is all.
We have known each other for a good few months now. If we were in a relationship, people would be thinking “oooh that’s getting a bit serious now isn’t it”. So I thought because we are getting so serious and all, maybe it’s about time you bought me the greatest gift money can buy… a Mac.
Despite being a mac loving designer, I have a PC at home makes me not want to compute at home. So I thought one of you kind hearted souls would like to buy me a shiny new iMac. Here is an image of it compared to a PC and what a funny image it is.
So would you buy a gift for someone you’ve never met?
It wouldn’t have to be something as expensive as what you’re going to buy for me. Have you already bought someone you’ve never met a gift? What was it?
p.s. Sorry for the PC bashing… also you only have to buy it for me if you’re rich. Oh and thank you to Sam who wrote a very nice review of this blog which you can read here… that is all.
It has been a whole 10 days of relative silence at this blog. I have been uber busy and have been unable to update this page or keep up with the latest goings on in Blogland. A lot has happened. Rhys has invented this thing where you can review blogs called Fair Review. You could go there, review this blog and speak of all of its wondrous glory. And in sadder news the often hilarious Mr. Paddy has parted company with the land of doingword. I will be holding a one minute silence at 3pm in remembrance of that boy.
On to today’s question. I was looking around seeking inspiration and realised that would be a good question…
Other than your monitor, which I imagine you can all see right now… what else can you see?
I can see some red bricks, a cactus, lots of beautiful Apple monitors, a framed photograph of a My Name is Earl style housing estate, an empty milk carton, a figure of a monkey dressed as a nurse with a syringe for an arm, a Krankies mug and a large pile of work that isn’t going to do itself… and on that note I leave you all.
Happy commenting.
