Free money-lets buy stuff

Living, News Add comments

There is this woman who went to a cash machine to draw out her last £10 to purchase cigarettes and meths, only to realise she had £135,010 credit in there. Instead of questioning this amount clearly not being hers, she went on a massive spending spree. As well as buying the cigarettes and meths she picked up a 50′ plasma tv, new fridge freezer, completely redecorated her squat and booked a £10,000 holiday to Florida.

What would you do if you found a massive amount of money in your account?

Not to try and sway you, but the woman I’m talking about did get everything repossessed and is now going to jail.

I’d have to inform the bank. I wouldnt want to get arrested.

Like Celeste, I don’t want to be in jail, my bum could be currency in there!

I would probably… withdraw it all very slowly and then put it in another account at a different bank where there I can use it and spend it.. and save it x)

I’d want to spend it, of course. I mean, who wouldn’t? However, the sensible part of me would report it.

If I were to be told that there was no mistake, then I would definitely spend the money. Wisely, for the most part. Like paying off my credit card bills and my student loans. Then I’d book a vacation to Japan. :)

This actually happened to my mum, she found $4000 in her bank and she rang the bank asked them what it was, they said it was from an online bank transfer and as far as she could tell it was my mums. So my mum obviously spent it, we found out later that it was from her ex he transferred it to the wrong account, but because he owed her money already he didn’t get it back.

i once got paid by a temp agency while i wasn’t even working for them anymomre. i gave them a call because i was afraid they would find out anyway… i don’t really think people get away with things like that… that’s how the system works i guess. ;)

That happened in Home & Away to Vinnie once!

Jail is a little harsh, it’s not her fault. It was the banks fault.. I’d certainly be having a big night on the town if that happened. The rest would go in ING and earn me lots of interest! :)

LOL @ ING! But that is a smart idea.

I agree that jail is a lil harsh. Why do the banks always seem to win, but a lot of times they don’t do the right thing themselves?
