We have known each other for a good few months now. If we were in a relationship, people would be thinking “oooh that’s getting a bit serious now isn’t it”. So I thought because we are getting so serious and all, maybe it’s about time you bought me the greatest gift money can buy… a Mac.
Despite being a mac loving designer, I have a PC at home makes me not want to compute at home. So I thought one of you kind hearted souls would like to buy me a shiny new iMac. Here is an image of it compared to a PC and what a funny image it is.
So would you buy a gift for someone you’ve never met?
It wouldn’t have to be something as expensive as what you’re going to buy for me. Have you already bought someone you’ve never met a gift? What was it?
p.s. Sorry for the PC bashing… also you only have to buy it for me if you’re rich. Oh and thank you to Sam who wrote a very nice review of this blog which you can read here… that is all.

No, quite simply.
One of my readers bought me a couple of DVD’s, I had no idea how to thank him, and felt uncomfortable.

Yep. There are some people I’ve only talked to online, never met in real-space, that have been every bit as supportive of me as my offline friends have. I’d love to buy them gifts, if I weren’t strapped for cash.
Oh! And thanks for the review link, Ryan! Glad you liked it!

I know a couple of people who I have only ever talked too online and via Skype but who I would send a gift to no problem but that is very much the exception to my rule.
I am a shitty gift buyer anyways and wouldn’t know what someone wanted unless they left a thousand hints, post-it notes and giant signs around telling me what to get so I always feel a bit awkward.

The closest thing to a gift I have ever sent online are Christmas cards. I think I would feel uncomfortable receiving gifts from someone I’ve never met, so I imagine they might feel the same way. Well, that’s just my thinking anyway.

I have bought presents for people online that I’ve never met in person (either via their Amazon wishlist or a just gift bought in person that I thought they would really like, which I’ve then posted to their house). I only do this with people I’ve spoken to for several years and consider them really good friends, though.
Perhaps this is odd behaviour, but it’s earned me some pretty decent pressies over the years!
Oh and that Mac/PC pic made me laugh out loud - that mass of cables on the right is identical to the chaos at the back of my desk!
